North Gate Campsite – Khwai, Moremi Game Reserve

North Gate Campsite is located at the northern entrance of Moremi Game Reserve, near the Khwai River. This is a popular stopover for self-drive travelers coming from or heading toward Chobe, Savuti, or the Khwai Community Area. The location offers easy access to some of the most productive game-viewing areas in Botswana. The campsite is nestled under mature riverine trees, offering shaded stands spaced well apart for privacy. Each site includes a braai stand, a water tap, and access to clean communal ablution blocks with flush toilets and hot showers. There is no electricity available, so guests should plan accordingly. Wildlife frequently passes through the area, including elephants, hippos, and predators like lions and leopards. The nearby Khwai River floodplains are excellent for birding and support large herds of herbivores, drawing in big cats and wild dogs. This campsite is located inside Moremi Game Reserve, which means that park fees are required in addition to campsite fees. These fees can be paid at the park gate or in advance at the Department of Wildlife and National Parks offices in Maun or Kasane.
